Plantar Fasciitis Relief with Acupuncture: Christine’s Story
A First Step Toward Natural Care
When Christine first met Garrett Krause, the practitioner at Queen City Acupuncture & Wellness Center, it was 2017 and she was dealing with pneumonia. Christine was looking for ways to support her body without relying on prescription medications. She says she has long preferred supplements, functional medicine, and natural approaches whenever possible, so when Garrett asked if he could try acupuncture with her, she agreed—even though she had never experienced acupuncture before. This first experience with acupuncture helped to relieve her symptoms and avoid taking medication for the pneumonia.
Returning for Plantar Fasciitis Relief
Christine remembered her positive experience with Garrett and returned to his acupuncture practice in Matthews, NC when she began suffering from plantar fasciitis. As someone who walks for exercise and aims for 10,000 steps a day, she says that foot pain was more than an inconvenience—it affected her daily life and her independence.
Since she began acupuncture treatments, Christine says the biggest difference has been pain reduction. Her plantar fasciitis is not completely gone, but she says it is “much, much better,” and that improvement has allowed her to keep moving. Garrett has also been treating neuropathy, often working on her legs and feet, and incorporating supportive approaches such as dry needling, shockwave therapy, and taping the bottom of her foot for added support.
Support Beyond Foot Pain
Christine’s experience has not been limited to foot pain. Recently, Christine developed what her functional medicine doctor described as mucus in her upper chest. She says she had a harsh, racking cough and felt extremely congested. At her regular appointment, she told Garrett what was going on, and he shifted the treatment plan for that day.
Instead of focusing only on her legs, Garrett adjusted the treatment to address her congestion as well. Shortly after leaving the clinic, Christine says she noticed a dramatic shift. Her nose began running heavily, and she felt as if the congestion was finally moving. She says it did not disappear instantly, but that the relief was clear and immediate enough that it surprised her. “I just felt like the congestion improved immensely,” she recalled. “I couldn’t believe it.”
Building Trust in the Treatment Process
For Christine, that kind of response reinforced why she values Garrett’s care so much. She describes him as knowledgeable, kind, personable, and deeply committed to helping. “It’s just been very, very good, “she says. “I’m very comfortable with him. He is so knowledgeable and really wants to help. I feel completely confident in his abilities.”
That trust also aligns with Christine’s broader approach to health. She says that she is not interested in taking medications unless absolutely necessary. Even when she had pneumonia, she picked up a prescription but ultimately chose not to take it after reading the warnings and potential side effects. She says that her preference has always been to work with her body through natural and functional approaches when possible.
Exploring What Acupuncture May Help Next
Now, Christine says she is beginning to wonder what else acupuncture might help with. She reports feeling congenital back pain, lower back pain, shoulder pain, and neuropathy. She says she is making a complete list for Garrett and plans to say, “Here it is. Tell me what you can do.” After seeing improvement in her feet and unexpected relief from congestion, she is increasingly open to exploring how acupuncture might support other areas of her health.
Sharing Her Experience with Others
Christine has also become an enthusiastic advocate for Queen City Acupuncture & Wellness Center. She says that she speaks highly of Garrett not only to friends but also to other healthcare providers. After telling her podiatrist that acupuncture had helped her plantar fasciitis, she was thrilled when he expressed interest in referring patients and asked for Garrett’s business cards.
Christine describes herself as “a big fan” of Garrett’s care. She says, “He’s so knowledgeable, he’s so kind… he’s good people.” Christine says her experience at Queen City Acupuncture & Wellness has helped reduce her plantar fasciitis pain and made it easier for her to keep walking regularly.
